{YogaSkills} What is Kemetic Yoga + Why Should We Do It

SHU
"Kemet refers to the original name of ancient Egypt, which is northeast Africa and is the birthplace of most of what we call civilization, i.e. agriculture, science, law, medicine, etc.  Kemetic "Yoga" science and philosophy was the foundation of their religious/spiritual understanding of the nature of reality.

The perspective from which they viewed the world was a Yogic one.  Understanding that there is an underlying order to everything in the universe, that one must live life in accordance with that all-encompassing order (MAAT) and incorporate daily internal practices of breathing, movement and meditation in order to become transformed for self-realization and self-actualization is Kemetic Yoga.  In ancient Kemet, the specific state of the art movements and meditation that were practiced were unique to their civilization.  Some of these are clearly pictured on the walls of the temples, in their religious/spiritual art, in their literature, etc.

Some of their techniques are identical to those found in India and many are quite different and unique.  In ancient Kemet, yoga was used as a means of training one's body and mind to remain in MAAT so that their behavior, thought and actions could be more easily directed and controlled.  If one was not living in harmony with MAAT (truth, justice, order, reciprocity), then one was not truly living.  Kemetic Yoga provides you with the internal ability to live in harmony with MAAT and thus to achieve your purpose in life."
