ANCIENT WISDOM FOR MODERN LIVING

Kemetic Yoga™ emerged from the one of the oldest known civilizations of ancient Egypt in Northeastern Africa, properly known as Kemet and is the foundation of my work as a yoga instructor and wholistic life coach.

Developed by studying and interpreting what is commonly known as the hieroglyphic texts and images of Yogic postures depicted on the walls of the Kemetic temples, Kemetic Yoga™ is both a philosophy and a practice.

Based upon the ancient Egyptian systems of self-development, Kemetic Yoga™ is a method of self-mastery that allows individuals to manifest balance within, which radiates through their contributions to society.

The philosophic principals of Kemetic Yoga™ places equal emphasis on the rejuvenation of the entire body and mind, as opposed to a primary focus on physical development of outer muscles and flexibility.  Kemetic Yoga™ is a healing and regenerative Yoga system that is characterized by a series of geometrically progressive postures that improve alignment of body, specifically the spinal column, while emphasizing control of the breath.  Pulsing with the life force that feeds the body on a cellular level, concentrated breathing is used to create a flow of movement from one posture to the next.  By stimulating the autonomic nervous system,  the application of focused breathing through Kemetic Yoga™ can reduce tension as well as increase productivity and creativity.

While the Kemetic Yoga™ postures are unique in themselves, this style of movement can be applied to all yoga systems. This system is slower and more methodical than the traditional methods of Yoga. By slowing down, more emphasis is placed on developing the Yoga skills of patience, concentration and self-mastery, which easily become life skills.

Kemetic Yoga™ provides a total sense of well-being and personal empowerment that allows any individual the ability to become self-actualized.

Through my work co-creating wellness and self-care goals with girls and women, I developed
Yoga Maat to address health and social concerns that affect women of certain ethnic groups disproportionately.

To ensure my wholistic approach continues to benefit women, Yoga Maat is designed to bridge the gap between the high incidence of disease and cultural challenges through practices unique to each woman's ethnicity and cultural heritage. By connecting women with healing practices of their ethnic heritage, they find greater success in healing themselves and their families.
